Last week, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Finland opened the exhibition Edith Karlson: Dawn till Dawn by Estonian artist Edith Karlson, curated by Piia Oksanen.
Edith Karlson’s striking sculptures, including four-meter-tall giants, a massive skeleton, mermaids, and hybrid creatures combining human and animal forms, fill the 5th floor of Kiasma until 27 September.
The works reflect deeply human experiences: grief, helplessness, and disbelief, as well as the need to understand the world around us. At the same time, they also carry light and hope. This is the first solo exhibition by an Estonian artist ever held at Kiasma.
