Estonia’s internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis will perform at the Lohtaja Church Music Festival with a programme that brings together Gregorian chant, early polyphony, and contemporary music.
The concert features music by Guillaume de Machaut, alongside works by Estonian composers Arvo Pärt, Helena Tulve, and Tõnis Kaumann. Gregorian chant, which has been at the heart of the ensemble’s artistic identity since its founding in 1996, also forms an integral part of the programme.
Renowned for its distinctive sound and performances around the world, Vox Clamantis has received numerous prestigious international awards. Its recording of Arvo Pärt’s Adam’s Lament won the Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance in 2014. Recordings of Franz Liszt’s Via Crucis and Arvo Pärt’s The Deer’s Cry have both received the Diapason d’Or award. The ensemble’s singing can also be heard in the Academy Award- and Golden Globe-winning film The Great Beauty (La Grande Bellezza).
