The Naantali Music Festival opens with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kristiina Poska, featuring pianist Barry Douglas.
The programme brings together a contemporary Estonian work and major Romantic masterpieces. At its centre is the Finnish premiere of Transience by Elis Hallik, a rising voice in Estonian music, whose work captures the fragile, fleeting nature of time.
The concert also includes Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor, a lyrical dialogue between soloist and orchestra, and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 “Scottish”, a vivid musical journey inspired by Scotland’s historical landscapes.
Programme:
- Elis Hallik: Transience
- Robert Schumann: Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 53
- Felix Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Op. 56 “Scottish”
Performers:
- Turku Philharmonic Orchestra
- Kristiina Poska, conductor
- Barry Douglas, piano
Duration: approx. 2 hours.
