At the Music Talsinki November club event, Põhja Konn, a popular Estonian progressive rock band known for its poetic lyrics and complex arrangements, and Pennar & Friends, a jazz ensemble led by Karl Madis Pennar, will perform.
Põhja Konn is an Estonian progressive rock band whose versatile musicians draw influences from jazz, classical music, funk, and pop. Despite their old-school prog rock influences, the band creates a fresh and modern sound, inspired by bands like Genesis, Ruja, In Spe, and Beardfish.
The band has released two albums, with their latest, “Hetk. InSpereeritud Tüürist” (2019), earning them prestigious Estonian Music Awards for Band of the Year and Rock Album of the Year. Currently working on their third album, the band released their latest single, “Loomislaul,” in the summer of 2024.
Põhja Konn has performed together with the Finnish band Saimaa both in Finland and Estonia, most recently in the summer of 2023 at the Helsinki Festival.
The night will be opened by Pennar & Friends which is a band formed in 2019 in Tallinn by three good friends who reunited after the bands leader, Karl Madis Pennar, returned from his adventures abroad. They came together to perform songs from their debut album “Stories Untold” which was released in the fall of 2021.
Pennar, Robert Rebane, and Martin Petermann create an atmosphere through the fusion of electric guitar, bass, and drums, characterized by adventure, magic, and diversity. The mutual respect, musical versatility, creativity, shared vision of musical energy, and above all, the friendship between these three comrades, form the foundation of this harmonious trio.
The concert is open for all ages!
