The Estonian ensemble Anemoon will perform at the Raahen Rantajatsit festival, taking place in the Finnish coastal town of Raahe from 24-26 July. Established in 1989, Rantajatsit is one of Finland’s longest-running summer jazz festivals, bringing together Finnish and international artists from the fields of jazz, folk, and world music.
Anemoon’s concert will take place on Friday, 24 July at 10:00 PM at the historic Ruiskuhuone venue.
Anemoon presents original compositions by Anna Regina Kalk and Anett Tamm, which look through the eyes of a woman at a world where simply being human seems to have an ever decreasing value. A world where experience and meaning are sought in superficial beauty, like a drug that charms and intoxicates and then poisons and destroys.
The musical world of Anemoon is complemented by Robert Rebane on bass guitar and Martin Petermann on drums. The collective focuses on improvisation, a freeing and surprising way of expressing themselves that allows space for both trust and provocation.
Anna Regina’s and Anett’s compositions are bound by a Nordic crispness and a healthy dose of ambivalence. The solutions are often left open, giving both the listeners and the musicians on stage the freedom to engage in playful dialogue, where serious matters are taken with humour and light-hearted questions are sometimes perhaps taken too seriously.
Anemoon’s new album “Land of Expectations” was released in Spring 2026.
