The European Day of Languages is being celebrated for the 26th time this year! The day aims to highlight the importance of language skills and encourage people to learn and use different languages.
From 9:30–12:30 and 13:30–15:30, a Language Café for school students will take place in Maijansali at Helsinki Central Library Oodi. Through games, quizzes and other activities, participants can explore different European languages and cultures. Estonian will be presented at a joint Estonian-Hungarian stand.
From 16:30–17:30, excerpts from Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland will be read in several EU languages and sign languages on the Saarikoski Carpet on the 3rd floor of Oodi. Estonian will also be among the languages featured.
The European Day of Languages is organised by the European Commission Representation in Finland in cooperation with EU Member States’ embassies, language institutes and other partners.
