On 13 May 2025, Estonian Minister of the Interior Igor Taro met with his Finnish counterpart, Minister Mari Rantanen, in Helsinki. The ministers discussed preparedness for crises, countering hybrid threats, and police cooperation between Estonia and Finland. The agenda also included civil protection and related training activities.
During the day, the ministers visited the Merihaka civil protection shelter and Isosaari island, where they observed an international joint exercise focused on managing special situations in a maritime environment. Authorities from several other Baltic Sea countries, including Estonia, also participated in the exercise.
