Estonia is represented at the Helsinki Festival with two productions – in addition to the Estonian Drama Theatre’s Mephisto, the programme also includes Juha Jokela’s play Fundamentalist, brought to the stage at Stoa by one of Estonia’s most acclaimed theatres, Von Krahl Theatre.
The production Mephisto, which has received multiple nominations for the Estonian Theatre Awards and earned a national cultural prize in 2022 for director Kertu Moppel and actor Juhan Ulfsak, will be performed at the Finnish National Theatre on August 15 and 16.
Marta Aliide Jakovski’s production has been staged over 100 times in Estonia – always to sold-out audiences. Now, Finnish audiences also have the chance to see the piece, translated into Finnish, on August 20 and 21 at Stoa.
The collaboration is supported by the Estonian Ministry of Culture and the Estonian Embassy in Finland.
