Arvo Pärt 90 – Veljo Tormis 95 Jubilee Concert
Friday, February 21, at 7 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM)
Helsinki Temppeliaukio Church
Join us for an extraordinary evening celebrating two of Estonia’s most iconic composers: Arvo Pärt, on his 90th birthday, and Veljo Tormis, on the 95th anniversary of his birth.
The concert will feature the talented Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium Youth String Orchestra, conducted by Rasmus Puur. Adding to the evening’s brilliance is a performance by Hans Christian Aavik, winner of the prestigious Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition.
Pärt and Tormis have left an indelible mark on Estonian classical music, but rarely have their works been showcased together. This unique program brings their masterpieces to life in a way that highlights their artistic genius.
Program highlights include:
- Arvo Pärt: “Für Lennart in memoriam”, “Silouan’s Song”, “Fratres”
- Veljo Tormis: “Curse Upon Iron”, “Sinikka’s Song”, “Incantatio Maris Aestuosi” (Incantation for a Stormy Sea)
This special event in Helsinki is free to attend, but registration is required by February 16, 2025, or until all available seats are filled. Registration via this link!
The concert will also be performed on February 20 in Tallinn.
