KUMMARDUS is a photo and video narrative about Estonian design, where creativity, nature, and traditions meet.

The creations of outstanding Estonian designers are directly or indirectly intertwined with inspiration from nature, influenced by the long-standing preservation of traditions and the presence of local masters. The five collections of Kummardus, based on the seasons, use motifs borrowed from old regional tales, color symbolism, and folklore, alongside creativity and nature, to form a unified narrative.

Nearly 50 Estonian designers participated in the Kummardus photo and video project, whose iconic products have left a mark on the Estonian design landscape and shown potential for international growth. Over a nearly two-year period, five photoshoots took place in different parts of Estonia, where design products were taken to their heritage environments. A total of 150 photos and 6 video stories were created, forming the basis for this exhibition.

Kummardus was nominated for the Design Act of the Year category at the Estonian Design Awards in 2022.
